I like these parties, as I can catch up with friends, party, have a laugh and most importantly, do all my birthday, mothers day, fathers day or christmas shopping without having to go to busy shopping malls and waste time and petrol. Now thats a bonus :)

It sounds to me that you were one of the ones in highschool that wanted so badly to fit in. And because he cant he becomes a hater, and judges the cover before reading the book.
First and foremost be a MAN, what kind of MAN spends his time nerding and bloging about a PartyLite show he went to... i have to laugh. That is pretty much all i got out of this entire post... you have pretty much secured yourself is forever bachelor'ism.
Good luck in life.

I used to love partylite candles for the fact that they totally burned completely away. I love to go to the home parties to socialize with my friends and make new ones It really gives me a reason to get out of the house. However I will never go to another partylite candle party again! I purchased tealight candles and nearly BURNED DOWN MY HOUSE! The plastic casing around the tealight caught on fire and I was unable to just blow out the fire. I had to extinquish it. I think they are dangerous. Seriously how about putting metal around the candle that is not flamable!

I don't understand why people get so upset that THEY went to a party, THEY bought something, THEY walk away upset because they FEEL as though they were taken advantage of. For myself, Myfirst show many years ago, I didn't feel taken advantage of because I chose to go to the show. I had fun, just didn't have any money :) and in the process, years later I still buy PartyL candles. I won't buy any other brand. Even when I did buy candles from Walmart or Target, (well before PartyL) I wasn't satisfied with NOT knowing the history of the candles. How they were made, where they were made and so forth. With PartyL I know they give you all of the information on the candle. they hold nothing back. I like that! I really do! Also, to the other person who said that she doesn't like the fact that the consultants are making money off of her...this is just silly. Everything you buy, someone is making money off of you. I think, for the most part, people just don't want to see others excel in something because they themselves are to afraid to step out of the box. These d/s companies have individuals who have decided to step out of the box. I applaud all of those wh ohave decided to step out of the box into something that is not the norm. (watch the BEE movie) and to anyone who has a direct selling business... i support you one hundred percent!!! keep on doing what you do!

Another thing. Why is it when I search online I cannot find prices for the candles fro Partylite?? Are they too embarrassed to put them online in case people realise before they are too drunk that they are way to expensive

If these candles are so good then why can't i buy them in a store like any other normal product?? What education do you need to give customers on candles...last time I heard it was light it and then blow it out when you are finished with it or if it is your birthday. Just a scam to put people under pressure and get them to buy a crappy candle that they have no real need for. Go out and get a proper job

Entertaining as this is, do any of you realize that after this amount of time, you are not saying anything not already said?

Even with my above statement, I still feel the need to add my two cents.

I've been in several direct sales orgs (Amway, Melalueca, etc.) I used to be a total introvert, so I failed to 'make my fortune'. My wife is currently a Partylite consultant, so I will admit to some bias toward that company.

As a whole, I like direct sales. The concept works, and be very profitable. The 'sales person' (please don't bother denying it) can be as meek or aggressive as they choose and still have an opportunity.

I have, unfortunately, met agents just like Justin did, and met others that thought as Justin does (still?). (Along with the freedom to be aggressive comes the freedom to be totally stupid. Amroids as we used to call them in Amway.) If the information I received looked the slightist bit interesting, I looked it up my self.

There are d/s companies out there that are even worse than Justin seems to think P/L is. I don't happen to think P/L is that bad.

(I may have overlooked it, Justin, but did you contact corporate? Did they provide the same dis-satisfying responses? Did you take any of the nicer ladies up on their offer to provide free product? Just like any product, some batches just aren't as good as others.)

I heard a diddy one time that I think applies to 90% of the posts here.

'He who is convinced, against his will, is of the same opinion still.'

Feel free to continue to entertain, but nothing you SAY is going to change Justin's mind. Only his personal experience will.

Dude you are a total SUCKER!!!!!!!!
It's not the consultant or the hostess that's the problem it's people like you who can't say no!!!!
Grow up, stop blaming people for your spending problems.
I just hosted a party last night and it went great, ladies had fun, ate yummy food, socialized and shopped. ONLY buying what they truley wanted. Those who couldn't or didn't buy still had a great time and I certainly didn't think any less of them.

I've got to say I've oogled your designs for awhile and read your blog from time to time and I can't believe they are still harping on their precious candles.

I'm a Navy brat. My mom was a Tupperware, Princess House, Christmas Around the World, Mary Kay and Amway rep over a 20 year period. We went to at least three times that many parties. The Avon lady still makes me shudder. She didn't stick with any of them, because WOM marketing is exhausting and often futile in a saturated market. And most MLM companies do not limit the number of reps in an area.

I am not opposed to the MLM marketing per se, but it is more of a necessary evil like Walmart than a joy and useful platform for moving goods to consumers. And you can give me all the baloney about "value" and "quality" you want. Charging $50 for a lantern holder is just insane. Cost is no way over $5. I've cast my own metal. I make my own soy candles, melts and such at home with organic oils. No way are PL candles "better" than that. And anyway anything burning makes some amount of soot, whether its visible or not. Wicks don't magically disappear.

So preach on Justin, lol.
