The past three days of my life have been spent in, around or above an extraordinary about of water. I have seen squid, jellyfish, angelfish, sea-horeses, whale sharks and craptons of coral! I am, by no means, whatsoever, stating that I am not enjoying my time around the water, however, I will admit I am extremely waterlogged.
For example, today, I spent the majority of my time in water. I visited Chu-la-u with Felicia, Shannon, Brenda and Carol-lee. We spent about three hours at the pool like environment soaking up the sun and sipping a drink. We had alot of fun that eventually lead to the rush of me attempting to get my cylinders filled so I could go on two dives with people from the harbor.
Our diving adventures began at the south side of the Sea-wall. I was so excited to get in the water, which I thoroughly enjoy, that I forgot my weight belt on the wall and had to swim back to get it. I looked like a complete and total moron, I couldn’t beleive I did that! i was laughing at myself all night. Not only this, but I burned through an entire tank of air (2700lbs) in less than thirty minutes! That is an outstanding rate of air consumption. I typically am able to last about 50-60 minutes on a single tank of air. I informed the guys I was diving with that I was extremely anxious and I would take a tank to get used to the environment.
On my initial dive, I was sent with a guy named Brock. He is a dive master and is definitely knowledgable about the subject of S.C.U.B.A. but, he spent ten minutes trying to refresh me on my ability to dive. I found this absurd! I wasn’t totally offended but I did feel a bit singled out by the way he was acting. Granted I might not be around salt water as these guys are always around, but I definitely have my share of dives. He treated me as if I was a total newb and wasn’t even certified. I wanted to stab him with my dive knife… seriously!
After our first dive, we enjoyed tacos at a local Japanese hispanic type taco joint. The tacos were extremely different tasting, but very good! I ate a handful of tacos with the guys: Mike, Josh, Mark, Zack, Ed, Brock and Ed’s wife Lauren. After dinner we suited back up and started a night dive. The visibility at the sea wall was not as great as I had initially anticipated — yet it was totally worth the dive. We averaged 40 minute bottom time at around 45 feet. My second tank of air lasted a very long time. When we surface after around 41 minutes, I still had 1900lbs of air. Ed actually is able to maintain air very well, he had 2600lbs after a 40 minute dive. I wish I could hold air at that rate, but I can’t.
I have posted new photographs of my flickr account from the water and some photos from the dolphins and such we saw the other day. I also uploaded photographs of Cullin and Kailin playing in a fountain the other day as well. Recent photos are more recent, duh :)
